![]() this would be within the LAN (do i need a plex client installed on LAN devices) or on a mobile device that's accessing the NAS via private VPN. ![]() want to keep it all on my NAS to serve only the devices I've configured for access. Not sure if plex costs money, I know twonky does (one time charge), i'm not stingey and would opt for the better platform, but really don't want to get into any subscription circles with respect to the cloud and how my content can be indexed or stored on their servers. some questions that i wasn't sure about regarding media servers like these:ĭo they re-arrange the folder and file structure of the media ? the QNAP DLNA is not messing with the folder structure of where I'm used to storing my media types and would like to keep it that way since other LAN devices I use look at those locations for the media.Ĭan i set the folder location of my media as I do now with QNAP's solution ? It's like your own private netflix and it will transcode the video and/or audio matching your Players capabilities with that NAS you should be using Plex (Server on NAS and Player on SmartTV or Playback Stick, like Android,Rok,FireTV,etc)
